A Retrospective of 2022: What I’ve Learned

As the year comes to a close, I usually spend some time reflecting on the past 12 months and considering what I’ve accomplished and where I may have fallen short. But beyond just a personal exercise, year-end reflection can be an incredibly valuable tool for professional growth and development.

Learning#1: Protect your precious support system

My wife is my greatest support system. She has been there for me through thick and thin, and I realized that if I take our relationship for granted or harm it in any way, I am making a huge mistake. It’s important to nurture and appreciate the relationships we have with our loved ones, as they are essential to our well-being and happiness.

Learning#2: People Change

This year has been a year of lessons and self-reflection for me. One of the biggest things I learned is that anyone can change suddenly, regardless of how close the bond is. This can be a difficult lesson to learn, but it’s important to remember that people are constantly evolving and changing, and it’s important to be prepared for those changes.

Learning#3: Life is my own struggle

My life is my own struggle, and I need to accept it gracefully. It’s easy to get caught up in the hardships and challenges that come our way, but it’s important to remember that we have the power to shape our own lives and choose how we respond to those challenges. To do this, we need to gather the courage and put on the armor to protect our wounded souls, even when it feels hard. While our support systems can help us to remind us of this, ultimately it is up to us to take that first step and put on that armor.

Learning#4: Don’t make someone a Priority easily

I learned the importance of not making someone a priority when they only see me as an option. It’s easy to get caught up in wanting to be loved and appreciated, but it’s important to remember that we deserve to be treated with respect and consideration. If someone is not willing to do that, it’s important to recognize that and move on.

Learning#5: Don’t limit yourself

There are no limits in life. There may be plateaus that we need to overcome, but it’s important to keep pushing ourselves and not get stuck in those plateaus. It’s easy to put limits on ourselves and our abilities, but it’s important to remember that we are capable of achieving great things if we are willing to put in the work and push ourselves beyond our comfort zones.

Learning#6: Being Myself

I used to worry about fitting in and conforming to the expectations of others, but I learned that being myself is what makes me unique and special. When I embraced my quirks and imperfections, I was able to connect with others in a deeper and more meaningful way. This year has taught me that it’s okay to be different and to stand out. In fact, it’s something to be celebrated. By being myself, I was able to attract like-minded people and create meaningful relationships.

Wrap Up My Learnings in 2022

Overall, this year has been a year of self-reflection and growth. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and the opportunities I have had to reflect on my life and my choices. I am also grateful for the opportunity to discover and embrace my true self, and I am excited to see where it takes me in the future. So, being myself is what got me to where I am today, and I am grateful for that lesson.
